Every painting started in the mind of our founder, Sallie Hess. Sallie is an interior designer and artist based in Alexandria, Virginia. She studied art in college, biology in graduate school, loves the beach, and has a silly, whimsical sense of humor, which all combine in her sea life paintings, or as she calls them, "the grumpy shrimp."

How did we get to the place where we are putting Sallie's paintings on coasters and tote bags? Popular demand! Friends on social media asked for stationery, pillows, bags, coasters, and the rest is history! Not all of the paintings make sense on a product, but it's fun to bring a little art around with you in the world. Pictured here are our cute (and handy!) soapstone car cupholder inserts.
